comunidad through conexión & Visuals

Ruth is a photographer based out of the White Mountain Region in New Hampshire. She was born in Mexico and raised in Honduras, and at an early age learned to appreciate the outdoors. As a child, she always searched for a creative outlet that could transform what she saw in her mind into something tangible. Drawing and painting didn’t come naturally, and it wasn't until 2016 when she borrowed her friend's camera to shoot a few friends climbing at Rumney, NH, that a light bulb went off: a camera was the perfect medium to capture what her mind envisioned. Ruth is especially interested in transmitting high impact stories. Her projects are specific and ambitious, yet aim for simplicity by capturing the emotions that dig into the very core of our human nature: moments that connect us and inspire us to grow.

Ruth has been published in printed and digital media for Climbing Magazine, Brown Girls Climb, Flash Foxy, Arc’teryx, Adidas Terrex, Madrock, and shot events such as the American Alpine Club’s Craggin’ Classic, Flash Foxy Climbing Festival, and the Mount Washington Valley Ice Climbing Festival. She also actively contributes to building an inclusive outdoor community in New England through 1-1 mentorship and by volunteering with various organizations that increase outdoor access for underrepresented communities.

Currently she serves on the board of directors for Summits In Solidarity, the board of directors for More Women+ Surf, and is a volunteer leader for Latino Outdoors. In addition, she is a multi sport athlete, with 15 years of experience as a competitive horseback rider (show jumping, endurance), a former member of the Honduran National Dressage Team, and 10 years as a rock climber both outdoors and competitively. She also participates in hiking, fencing, swimming, surfing, trail running, nordic and alpine skiing.

Committed to maximizing her impact in the world, she has also crafted a career as an engineer, with a core focus on being a mentor and role model for underrepresented minorities in science and technology.
